You ve got to wonder if a head unit including sat/nav, DVD for that price is going to give the same sound quality as the standard Bolero unit fitted. You usualy get what you pay for. I d say a better option would be to buy an seperate sat/nav and keep the stock stereo.

Have a few questions - do you still have the reversing image come up when you select reverse for the sensors?? Does it also come with the replacement Antena that has the GPS receiver in it? Is it a simple plug and play set up
Who provides the maps? Google, Whereis etc??

Guess I'll do some reading of the owners manual.......

While you are there you might want to see if it allows the CanBus system to go to sleep properly when the car is switched off. Lots of after-market ICE units don't, causing the battery to go flat after a day or so.

Does that indicate that it's purchased from Asia via the large well known auction site?

I got my car from Richmond and have never actually been to the Preston dealer, but a friend of mine who bought his demo car there reckons they have a courtesy Octavia with an aftermarket unit in it. I think they have tried out a few.

I think they use the avc 9000-1. He mentioned it to us while we were there. Also I think I heard him say Dean from Volkspower Burwood put them onto it.

Can you post the Internet Link of the manufacturer or supplier of the indash GPS unit that you imported for your Skoda Octavia?

Are you aware if the same business makes similar units to fit other VW model cars?

The guys that sell this unit to sell through eBay with a very high positive feedback (like 99.9%). I believe you get a selection of program you want for Nav - TomTom. iGo etc etc (don't know the full list).

A mate of mine put the prev model into his Passat and it works beautifully. Plug and play so I imagine this is the same.

Problem is, as I didn't really think about this earlier, is the damn parking sensors and heater comntrols coming up on the display.

Also, looking through the manual, the graphic interface looks pretty average. As my friend with the Passat said, he's on his second unit as he didn't like the interface of the first one he purchased. You're looking at it all the time!

But as time goes I'm sure they will improve the software side of it, so it may be worth waiting?

Oh, and the sound in his is perfect. Their ebay store is here: http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/A-Sur...__W0QQ_armrsZ1

Looks like they may be Melbourne/Sydney based

                              Hi guys,
Speaking of aftermarket satnavs for Skoda, could anyone please help me with my query - Can the Garmin GVN 53 "Black box" GPS https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=10573 be somehow fitted to the Bolero unit? If it can be connected and made to display the maps on the original Bolero screen, I think that will be the best of both worlds - keep the factory stock unit, not mess around too much with the Can-bus and other electronics, plus get a really good SatNav system at the same time. I know it won't be compatible with the steering controls, neither will it display directions in the dashboard, but at least its better than flimsy handhelp units mounted on the windscreen. And also its looking like the new AVC9000-1 isn't working too well with the Mk6 golf or facelifted octavia either.
                              Thanks
