Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Sachs Replacement Front Struts for 2010 Octavia Mk II 2.0 TDI Scout

Looking at some genuine Sachs replacements as have been told these are OEM and excellent. Can anyone confirm?

And does anyone know if the 4x4 Scout uses the same front struts as the std Octy? I've found some that are supposedly compatible but want to be sure, as they'll be coming from Germany. They list them for Octy Mk II MZ3 2.0 TDI but not 4x4. And some websites refer to a 4x4 1Z3 'Hatchback' - no such thing FWIK, as they are all wagons.

It’s quite possible that with the Scout front struts, your front will get bit more ground clearance, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing if you often drive into steep driveways or on rough roads. Some owners in Europe put 20mm spacer between strut rod and strut mount to lift the front mainly because of snow conditions.
