  • Any SA owners had their Skoda serviced at Jarvis yet?

Just wondering if anyone has had their Skoda serviced at Jarvis Skoda @ Hillcrest recently since they are now the only Adelaide based dealership. If so, any feedback?

My Octavia is due for a service shortly and I am undecided where to take it.

    Thanks

If you’re north talk to Haines Mechanical & Detail in Parafield Gardens.

If South I’d go to MRL Automotive (forum sponsor and moderator). He has a mobile service business and services southern suburbs.

You’ll talk to the mechanic that works on your car and very competitive rates compared to dealer servicing.

Also a good place to get aftermarket parts installed....

I'm due in a couple of months for my first service so i'm also interested in any feedback, i also have a couple of warranty issues that i'm bracing my self for.
      1. Stop start error, i believe there is an ITP for a software update on this
      2. Leave vehicle only when selector in position P, and it looks like a knownfault requiring the gear shift mechanism replacement, not cheap

You do realise you can get your car serviced at an independent workshop and just go to the dealer for warranty work.

Understand it may be 2 trips but you have to weigh up convenience for cost.

          Thanks for the reply.

I live East and work on the outskirts of the CBD so both of the options suggested arent ideal. Jarvis Hillcrest is not our of the question for me as it is only 20 mins from home but i would need to get a loan car from them.

Both of the above do work Saturdays but the weekend bookings fill up first.

I was in a similar situation for the potentially expensive 4th year service on my 1.4tsi manual.
I bit the bullet and booked at the Hillcrest site even though it was pretty inconvenient for me as I live in the (far) western Adelaide suburbs.
We discussed the fact that it was a low mileage car for a major service and settled on the standard service at standard capped rates this time.
They did the job and their assessment of the car condition was consistent with my expectations.

I was pleased they were prepared to negotiate the service rather than just greedily push for the unnecessary replacements. I'd already checked the pollen filter and air cleaner myself and knew they were ok.
Solitaire had been ok in the past and their Mile End location was more convenient for me but they repeatedly tried charging me more than the capped price although they never contested when I drew it to their attention.

The overall experience was pretty good for me really but obviously I only a small sample for you.
I expect to have to go back to them soon regarding the Takata airbags as our mk3 is now reaching the age where they may start to become a issue

Anyone tried Auto Studio at Parkside? They have quoted me $469 for the 3 year/45,000km service. A little cheaper than Jarvis and more convenient location.

Havent used Jarvis Hilcrest, Jarvis in tanunda are ok, nice and friendly, car cleaned.

Just enquired about when the cam belt is required to be changed and they stated 105,000km with a grand total of $2,135.35 and they need the car for 2 days.

Our Mk3 RS has had two services at Hillcrest Jarvis now, first time was average service, but was only a week after the changeover, latest one was fine, not as good as solitaire was, but okay.

Was pissed they were trying to sell dealership options like intake valve cleaning as being required by Skoda.

Overall it’s okay, but if I didn’t have a free service pack with the car I would be going with an independent euro specialist.

I decided to give Auto Studio a try.

Overall I was happy with the level of service and advice I received.

Just had my first year done at Jarvis, dropped off at 10 and picked up at 3, did the service, fixed the stop/start issue under warranty with a new battery and software update, replaced the air bag. i asked them not to do the tracking or rotate the tyre's as i have had that done on a hunter machine recently. Checked out a possible issue with the" position P warning", turned out that might be my fault for leaving the doors open to long but at least it recorded should the issue come back in the future. All friendly and even gave me a call to let me know how things were going, didn't get pushed for anything else. I did have to pay $39 for a hire car but i'm an hour south and didn't want to sit there waiting. Yes a little more expensive being a dealer but i wanted the warranty issues fix, would i go back? probably yes if only for the peace of mind that the 5 year warranty is covered without issue.
