The sound change is very, very subtle, if you want a more serious sound, the best that I've heard it the Remus cat back which is switchable.
I did the res swap, as a toe in the water, to see if it made a difference, to be fair, it's cheap to do, easily reversible, no negative effects.

As said previously, this is a car for the 'fam' and not a race car. I love modding cars, I can't help it really. Apart from a Supper Skoda order, which consists of mainly small aesthetics, I'll leave it alone for a while, then see If I want to do anything else.

Here's a clip of a car I've been following for a while, I loooooove the sound of it, nearly doesn't sound turbo charged, it just sounds angry, it has the Remus system, downpipe, IS38 turbo and a lot of mods:

Agree with Yoda's comments its a super subtle change I was kind of going for its a factory exhaust sound.

I do get a bit more note through certain parts of the range.

Mine has gotten louder in the last 1000km's

Full systems are required for proper noise, on saying all this I class the EA888 exhaust note in the SR20 category it makes a noise its not the nicest but its better than a Honda B16 note.

Its hard coming from 5 Cylinder and V8 exhaust notes. Our old XR5 Turbo had a 3" system and made glorious noises.

        5 cyl sounds

        15" res octavia RS sounds

IMO if the car was mine I would go dump pipe and Bullx system but as its the wifes car the Res swap is the perfect compromise you cant hear it cruising but more than 30% throttle it makes a slight noise IF you have the soundaktor off. With it on I find it overpowers the exhaust in Sport mode

I reckon dump pipe and aftermarket reso is sufficient for noise improvement. Someone did that over in SkodaModders group, sounded considerable more aggressive yet still civilized.

Keep in mind that our car is pretty much stripped of sound deadening, any low frequency exhaust rumble (which usually is associated with aftermarket exhaust system) will not be absorbed satisfactorily.

Great updates mate! Glad you are enjoying the beast! (Sorry, I have not checked in here for a while)

I still wonder how a standard Golf GTI with the same basic engine and gearbox manages to get a better sound than our RS Octavia...
            Great DSG farts etc...

Is their exhaust set-up different to ours?

Yes their exhaust system are different. Most notable one is the back box. Its one large box which probably has been tuned to produce specific sound. The centre resonator whilst looks the same on the outside is quite different from the inside. Ours has perforated pipe core with chamber in the middle, GTi one has solid pipe core with the same middle chamber.

Time for a wash on the weekend! I thought that I'd buy a snow foam gun to see if I can get a reasonable clean done a bit quicker. My biggest issue with washing cars is that I can't do half a job or a quick clean...Maybe I'm a bit OCD!

The Snow foam traps quite a lot of dirt and you just wash it off after giving it a few minutes. I then went over the wheels with a wheel brush and hand washed the rest of the car. Turned out pretty good, about 1.5 hours start to finish including drying off and putting all the cleaning gear away.

Haha. I spend about 3 to 4 hrs cleaning mine.
Hand Scrub with a separate sponge and bucket on each xtreme.. Rinse. Repeat. 1/4 Body with a large soft sponge then rinse.. Repeat.
Each second time I also sponge aNd rinse the internal Doors and body and seals.
Chamois the body and spot clean tar and stubborn stains.
                    I'm definitely OCD

                      Wow - I thought I was bad!

Not sure about the clay bar on every wash though.

Isn’t it normally done as part of a decontamination in preparation for machine polishing?

                        Absolutely.
Also spent 2 days removing swirls before coating.
Onto the wheels now as the scratches are horrific in the clear coat.
Oh to have a new car rather than buy someone else's mess...

Enjoy your beautiful vehicle, I'm the colour of your car with envy!

Yep, that's exactly what I would do...Then there's the interior!!!! Although clay bar was only once a year and full polish and wax every three months.

It's why our old Jetta only got washed once a year (when it was serviced)! We've been renovating our house for the last three years, so the car has come a very distant second in priority.

This was my old Porsche that I loved, but like so many of these things was sold to buy the family car once we had kids.

This got the serious all day job once a week, sometimes a quick early morning wash during the week if it happened to rain on a Monday or Tuesday!
