Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Four year service cost for Octavia 1.4tsi manual

Coming up for the 4 year service and our car has only done 45,000 km.
No issues although I still have the jerky throttle response directly after a cold start for the first 200 metres. Occasionally the jerkiness does not occur and driveability is much better and average consumption for the first kilometre much lower (6.5L/100 against 8.5L/100) and it does not do the normal Darth Vadar like breathing noise when I change gear.
The dealer did not recognise the problem existed when I left it with them overnight on one occasion.

The Skoda AU website says the capped price servicing is $511 plus a likely $61 for the filter replacement.
It is a bit of a step up in price considering it is not due a brake fluid change.

Does anyone know what is involved in this service? The handbook is useless from that aspect and something I dislike.
If new spark plugs are involved then do I really need them this time as I'm 15k km behind service distance?

Then there is the dealer versus independent argument and the price versus the effect it might have on any future issues that might crop up.
Now that Solitaire Motors in Adelaide have lost the Skoda franchise to Jarvis, the service location is more inconvenient and the new dealer is a bit of an unknown. Can any locals comment regarding Jarvis?

Fuel consumption is still very good overall with no discernable difference from running in up to present day.

I have read that the 1.4tsi can have a bit of an issue with the wastegate valve but mine seems free of the issue and the car is still a joy to drive, can carry a ton of stuff and can be incredibly economical on a run.

I'm in the same boat as you. 2014 Octavia TDI. Out of warranty and never been serviced by a dealer. 4 years old and 48 K kms. Went to Autocheap, Ryco oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and cabin filter came to $145 and $72 for 5 litres of Nulon 504/507. About 45-60 min of work to do the service. Hardest part is getting the glove box back in after replacing the cabin filter ($38.50).
2014 MY14 Corrida Red Elegance Wagon TDI
2009 MY10 Race Blue RS Wagon TSI 6 sp. manual. (Gone)
    2011 MY12 Yeti 77 TSI DSG.

Funny, I'm happy to do the service work on our old Toyota Echo but had not really thought to do the work myself on the Octavia.
I'll have a look at parts pricing for my model.
