Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Electric /Automatic tailgate question.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a way to enable the tailgate to close by pressing the key fob button?

It seems strange that the fob opens the tailgate, but can't close it?!?!
The only way I can now close it is by using the button on the actual tailgate...which is awkward if my arms are full of gear while unloading...

Is there a set up in the menu perhaps to enable that function?

This is disabled from Factory for safety reasons. You can enable this by using VCDS or OBD11 by altering the coding in the system. There could be members in NSW who can help you out. With the Superb, u can close with either option:-
          1. Kick to close, if ur hands r full.
          2. Press and hold on the keyfob
          3. Press the button on the boot itself

What can't b done though, is close via the boot centre console button.
With some controllers, u can enable this via the VCP (not VCDS) equipment.

            Thanks guys.
DarK5HaDOw, I tried holding the keyfob down but it doesn't work.
I guess that some functions are reserved for the higher end cars like your Supurb...

With OBD11 device, you can enable the boot close via ALL methods:

Keyfob & Console button... and as HPRS230 suggested you can turn off the infernal beeping, which is another safety feature.

As always the first mod - OBD11! Enabled so many features that made the $150 spent worth it. Just shout if you need help with the coding. Cheers

Anyone know of a good place that can do this OBD11 coding properly? (Sydney area)
