Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Mine is coming in October, but only because there happened to be one left with the exact spec i wanted on the stock list. From what i understood, the main issue is Skoda Australia were holding out for the MY16 cars with carplay etc. From what i understood, the wagons are being made to order, hence the wait.

I think low sales numbers in the past mean that they are restricting the flow out - don't want to have stock sitting around - and i think its something across the brand, as I know some Octavia owners are waiting >4months for theirs. I dont think they were prepared for the rush either tbh.

I didn't get the drive a manual, unfortunately, but all of the reviews say that the power difference isn't hugely noticeable.

The dealer I bought mine through said that they expected the auto hatch to be most popular, and the manual wagon to be least popular. My order was their second order... the first order was also a manual wagon.

I can understand them not wanting to over order, and then having excess stock sitting around, not selling, but I do have to wonder if the huge wait time on delivery is part of the reason for their poor sales.

ETA: the car I'm getting is the MY16 with carplay.

One thing that I found interesting, was how much the dealer really DIDN'T know about the fabia. I don't know if they hadn't done their reading up on the new model, or just didn't really care to know.
But some of the information I was given wasn't correct. Good thing I do my research

May have just been your dealer - the dealer i went through was actually really helpful. I do most of my reseaotrch beforehand, so salesmen arent much help usually - just someone to come on the drive with me - but the dealer i went to seemed to actually be into the scene, and knew a lot of the little changes and differences between the Fabia and Polo.

Re the stock levels, I've got to agree with you there, cant sell stock if it doesnt come in. Checking out the Euro forums and MY16 cars are "post-week 22"or so - think June. All the demo cars out there at the moment are MY15. I think that may be a part of it - having to wait till now for MY16 stock to actually be produced and allocated.

Luckily for me, the MY16 manual hatchback I wanted is already on the boat and about to dock in Australia. So expected delivery is mid-September.
