DSG Shifter change

Anyone know if you can change the old DSG shifter to any of the newer SKODA or VWA shifters?
The plastic job in the Fabia looks 'orrible - all the new SKODAs have the ice shiny one but some of the
Audi and VW ones are nice too.

Surely it's just get the part undo a screw and some clips thing?

A good question. The new ones do look better, but I wouldn't lose sleep over keeping the old one. Doesn't the new one have the "button" on the front as opposed to the right? Would that complicate the issue?

I think you might be right. All of them seem to have the button on the top.

It's just a bit plain. No. Won't be losing any sleep over it either

Ive seen a few people on here (look up "FatherlessOne" profile) who have changed gear shifters to a newer/different style. Thats on a Golf though.

Have you had a bit of a look around on Google to see if Skoda owners in Europe have done this mod?

I agree that the stock plastic shifter is pretty nasty looking on the Fabia's, a nice leather one from a Golf GTI or something would look great.

Yes. I've googled around a fair bit and come up with the same issues. All the alternatives have the button on top. Getting another RHD shifter with a button on the side is add much the problem as how to do it. I was eyeing of the Audi RS shifters add the best looking

I know some of the Golf guys have gone from a shifter with the button on the side and then retrofitted a shifter with the button at the front. There is a piece of plastic that needs to be heated up so that it can be re-shaped to suit the new shifter.
