So my younger brother recently bought a 77TSI Fabia. Cool little car. He brought it around to show me and when he was pulling into the driveway i noticed a metallic rattle coming from the engine. Its only audiable at low revs and mainly when taking off from a standstill or parking etc. The noise goes away at higher revs. I was wondering if its like the Mk6 VW GTI's which have a wastegate rattle (which VW have developed a fix for - a special clip fitted to the wastegate shaft to stop the noise).
As the wastegate is very accessable on these motors because of the top/front mounted turbo, i wriggled it which showed it moved around (had some slack) and make a similar noise to what i had been hearing.
Anyone else with a Fabia (or Polo or Golf) 77TSi have this same noise. And is there a "fix" for it?
