Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Diesel swap for Seat Ibiza?

    Hi,
I know this has probably been covered before, but I have a 1995 model Seat Ibiza 1.4, which I have been slowly tidying up to use as a daily driver.
With the chance of modding my Bora slowly slipping away as it gets older and more expensive to repair, I have turned my sights over to the Seat.
Does anyone have any info on sticking a turbo diesel engine into one of these? What's the best/easiest/cheapest way to do this?
I'm sure I'll have more questions, and the possibility of a build thread, but we'all take that as it comes.
    Cheers!

easy peasy... only tricky bit might be engineering.

Since yours is a 1.4, the best option would be to fit 2.0 golf or Ibiza front subframe setup, then you can fit any mk3 era diesel - there are a few.

You could also go for a more modern PD tdi if you had a donor car, but it would be a bigger project.
