Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Cupra just got a whole lot more fun

Encountered a pothole driving unfamiliar roads one night. Hit so hard steering wheel changed position 45degrees.
Weitec coilover died as a result shortly after so it was time for a suspension overhaul!

    -new coilovers (ST suspensions)
    -new strut bearings
-new top mount bushes powerflex black series (go hard or go home)
-new wishbones (Febi Bilstein) fitted with new ball joints, powerflex black front bushings and Audi TT solid rubber rear bushings.

Steering now felt firmer, smoother and more accurate.

Then I fitted a rear sway bar to the Ibiza and what a difference!
The front wheels now dig into turns it's crazy.
The bar used is a Neuspeed 28mm designed for a golf mk2/3 and made to fit with some simple L shaped brackets.
There really isn't anything else available for the 6k Ibiza, this bar has 3 settings for stiffness but I'm only able to use the stiffest setting with this setup.
    No complaints!

Hasn't anyone ever told you how much better a FWD car is with a rear bar? It's my #1 suspension mod. You can adjust the stiffness a little bit by moving the 2 middle mounts closer or further apart. The closer you put them the softer it is.

I prefer as stiff as possible and with a 28mm bar you've got the thickest/stiffest on the market.

What are you doing with your old rear shocks?

    Cheers
