Key blade end towards the car is the way I use it, that said I think i've just always done that. I'll have a play in the morning.

Did it unlock facing away from the car? From what I've read online these cars do have a radio frequency receiver located behind the passenger airbag.

I can face it in any direction, I can be in the house with the car in the drive 20 mtrs away & it works.

I ended up buying a remote that is radio frequency but can't get it to work.
Please take a look at my photo and let me know if it matches what yours looks like.

Update:
I have got remote locking to work and the remote I got was indeed the correct one for the cupra. Thanks Phil!
Turns out these cars do have a radio frequency receiver unit located behind/above the passenger airbag and mine was simply unplugged.


To program remote to the car
1. Key in ignition turn to red lights for less than 5 seconds.
2. Ignition off and take key out.
3. Press and hold the lock button then press unlock button 3 times then let go of lock button.
If successful indicator lights will flash and doors will lock/unlock

Yep, aounds correct. I just did a battery change & used this to reset the key.
