hey guys have a look/listen to this video

anyone else had this problem car pulls great up until 5k in 1st then power clearly isn't being made anymore along with the throttle sounding like it's not continuously take air in but quickly on/off/on/off/on/off. then in 2nd and 3rd it's happening at about 4k - 4.5.k

Why is your ESP light on?

    What engine code?

Sounds like there might be a boost leak but TBH you might as well have Stevie Wonder diagnose it. Trying to fix something via a video is never going to work.

I assume that you don't have access to VCDS, which is the first place to go. Scan the ECU for faults.

If you can't do that, then check ALL the boost pipes and joints out from the turbo outlet to the throttle body. Also check the diverter valve, especially if it's a std Audi one.

I'd also consider looking at the sparkplugs. I don't thing the coilpacks are the problem at this stage.

      Hey Gavin

      here's some more info

      Part No: 8N0 906 018 BJ
      Component: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0001

      4 Faults Found:
16891 - Idle Control System RPM
      P0507 - 35-10 - Higher than Expected. - Intermittent
      16514 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1
      P0130 - 35-00 - Malfunction in Circuit
      16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
      P0300 - 35-00 -
      16685 - Cylinder 1
      P0301 - 35-00 - Misfire Detected
      Readiness: 0010 0101

Previous to this lambda B1 S1 reading as open circuit so that's been replaced but still annoying it's coming up with malfunction in circuit.
Got a forge008 coming so hopefully that'll help as you are correct - original Audi one is in.

ESP light is now fixed - i had to do the basic setting, steering wheel to the left, right etc then it went away *victory*

Move this coil pack to #4 and see if the code moves with it.

Sounds like what's happening to mine. ended up being about 5 very small air leaks all over.

Get it smoke tested or coil packs too but do what gave said and move them around first as there is no point in buying a new set and wasting the money if that's not the issue

Ps it's a BAM, take it into audi there was a coilpack recall a loooong time ago now, but if you missed it they'll still honour it...well they did for me at least.

so tightening up the hoses... are there some hidden ones that i should be particularly concerned with? i'm guessing i can just go from DV and follow all the hoses that connect to it on both big ends right?

thanks for the advice on coil packs. will test & investigate further!

Just crank them all up. There's plenty that are hard to get to.

So i went to check out the coil packs and when removing coil pack #1 i found that the base had oil on it!??!? taking out the spark plug also revealed some oil...

so it was only where the two meet but was dry on the actual tip. just a bit black

so could this be why it was misfiring? and is this a bad sign???

will be changing all coils and plugs soon anyway but it seems after going for a quick drive there is still hesitation and a quick VCDS scan revealed that the coil errors had gone (although i'm not sure if i drove around long enough for it to have logged anything...) will take a longer drive tonight and see what happens

looks like the inner valve cover gasket is leaking
just make sure you replace that before coils and plugs and you should be all good

No need to change the main one from removal of the cover?

They usually come as a pair.

ok so changed all 4 coil packs to the TFSI (07K905715F) ones that sit a little bit taller and went for a drive... BOOOOO i still had hesitation and it felt worse.... scanned and the error moved to cylinder 4!

                            WTF?

so i thought i had a dodgy set of TFSI coil packs - opened the bonnet and the connector wasn't pushed in properly. ha!

so plugged it in and got going.

running super smooth now all the way up to red line
no sign of hesitation and logged for boost leaks using VCDS - requested and actual look good! car feels great!!! super stoked with that as i was about to bail on the car if that wasn't successful! lol

now... to get this SKC business sorted out...

Did you also get the TFSI "mounting plate"? It just bolts on to the rocker and ensures that the coilpacks don't jump out or move
