  • stop/start system on A4 question

I have recently bought an Audi A4 quattro that has the engine stop/start feature.
I have done some looking but cannot find any information relating to how the system actually works.
Hoping someone on here can help.
Does the system use the starter motor each time to restart the engine or does it fire the cylinder that is at TDC?

Thanks for any help people can give....

    What does the salesman say,

The Passats use the starter motor.

The current VAG systems all use the (heavy-duty) starter motor - which is fed by a special heavy-duty battery designed for stop/start applications.
