2016 Audi S3

Wondering if anyone has heard anything like this in startup when the car is cold. Audi says it's normal. It's only just started happening in the last 2 weeks.

Have been told this model doesn't have secondary air pump, which is what I originally thought it was.

Seems to be coming from the top rear of the motor.

Check your oil level is full.

My Mk7 Golf GTI (same basic engine as your S3) made a similar noise on cold start and its just the timing chain for a second before the oil pressure builds up. The noise in my car was as pronounced as yours and didnt go for as long but it was the same sound.

The noise is normal as such, but if its gotten worse in the past few weeks then perhaps your oil level is low or something else is causing it.
