Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Jetta 1.4T 118TSI Rebuild Options

Took my Jetta for its first service since taking in ownership and found out that its showing early signs of needing a rebuild.

I've had a quick search around to no avail. Is their any performance options in the way of pistons and internals for the 1.4T 118TSI engines that I can look at.

I figure if I have to rebuild then I may as well come out with a better package.

Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There'll be some experts to chime in directly.

But in the meantime, what version of the TSI do you have? Later versions have forged piston that, with some other modifications, have made the Twinchargers much more reliable.

Have a look at this thread:

      Thanks for the link

I'm still pretty new to the VW world (been a Honda drive for the past 15 years). Car is a MY11 so I believe I may have on the early Twincharged versions.
