Both Honda Euros, the current AND the old generation beat this for looks.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder my friend.
Although I too thought the first Honda Euro was a rather nice looking far (for a sedan), the new one just looks... well cheap. I'd rather a bland looking car than a cheap looking car
I have just replaced my very much loved Jetta with a brand new Euro, and think its superior looking to the new Jetta.
I loved the look of my Jetta 5,but IMHO,my Euro is a big step up.
Very sleek front, love the wheel arches, body kit style bottom, big alloys, and chrome bits, and the high rear has lots of detail.
Bland is 1 thing that the Euro has never been,if you talk bland, talk Corolla or Camry...lol.I think I would describe the Euro as being quite sporty, far more so than the Jetta....
The Euros quality, and interior is VERY impressive too.
Where the Jetta scores is its back legroom is roomier because its seats are smaller, its boot is bigger...and that is a very strong Jetta selling point, and it has lots of toys as standard equipment.
I have had 4 Jettas, and dont know how the new one will compete with the Euro...although I think that the Jetta will have a good chance against the rest of its competitors.
I am just saddened that the forthcoming Jetta seems to have been cheapened,eg look at its boot hinges,in order to make it cheaper,so that it can compete more competitively with the Corolla and Civic in America.
VW want 160 000 sales annually of the Jetta in the US.
They going to be pricing it at the same level as the Cruze (16 gorillas) in the US, that's a lot of cost you need to pull out of the car compared to the current model.
Exactly. In the USA this car is priced against the Holden Cruze (AU$20,990+) and Toyota Corolla (AU$21,390+)... NOT the Honda Accord Euro (AU$33,490+). Who knows exactly where they're going to position it in Australia, but it's an impressive car based on how it's being priced and it's competition, at least in the USA.
In Australia, if they decide to place it against the Accord Euro, then there should be plenty of room at add more features and trim to make it an attractive proposition against it as well.
not sure if anyone here has seen it, but if you are interested in the new Jetta a forum has been setup in the states, pretty quiet so far but a few photos from the launch and some other PS renders/photos. http://www.jettaline.com/forums/forum.php
I just think that people are comparing Jetta to Euro,as locally they have always been direct rivals, although with the new Euro, the Mazda 6 is probably its direct competitor, and the Jetta would now compete more with cars like the Suzuki Kizashi.
Better than the current one, but I wish they'd built it with a longer wheelbase rather than that similar to Golf and then stretching a big body over it. The side still looks chunky. No Audi for sure.

Um, they did. It's a full 70mm longer (almost 3") than the Golf wheelbase!
