That's an awful looking grill, a real step backwards from the current look.

If there is an R version, it would most likely use the same engine as the 2.0 lt turbo Golf R. VW are moving away from larger engines.

Search for the old story that the VW R division boss mentioned a V6 Jetta R as a possible future model. Imagine a Jetta R36 AWD!
Bizi's Jetta TDI: Blue Graphite w. factory leather & tint, plus + Enkei Racing NT03+M + Yokohama S Drive 18s, Koni FSD, Neuspeed coils, GTI RSB + brakes, InPro mirrors, VW navi, Modshack. Come for a drive through the twisties on Saturdaze.

Here's that 2010 story of the Jetta AWD 3.6L prototype:

I just noticed the 2012 Jetta GLI story, too:

Great pic gallery at this last link - and it's good to see VW's best Jetta wheel, Charlston, used again.

The things dreams are made of...with a higher power to weight ratio than the passat R36, this would have to do 0-100 in around 5 seconds flat ..

I did send an e-mail to VW following that story, to express my interest in VW's R division going ahead with this car.

Anyone else who likes this concept should do the same thing.

The Jettas boot is MASSIVE,and its such a good, practical choice.

Saw spypics of the 2012 Seat Toledo today, which will really be a rebadged Jetta, looks very nice though.
