Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA Scirocco R newbie

    Hi all,

My name's Lee - from WA. Was driving an Audi B7 A4 quattro but am now the proud new owner of a 2014 VW Scirocco R.

The car is currently stock but am thinking about a Stage 1 tune in the coming weeks

Was directed to the forums by staryknight so hopefully I'll be learning lots from you all during my VW journey!

Congratulations on the new purchase and welcome to VWW!

I can strogly recommend stage 1 tune. Not sure which tuner you're looking to go with by my RD Technik tuned Scirocco put out 205kwaw with just a stage 1 tune.

      Thanks tigger73

Ramp Auto in WA have quoted $1295 for a Custom Stage 1 remap which should give a 65hp/80nm gain.

      Any thoughts?

Most of the workshops are just reselling overseas tunes. The only tuner that I'm aware of that is writing files here in Australia for local conditions is RD Technik.

I beleive they have just got a dealer in WA and some decent specials on. DP, ECU tune, DSG tune, crackle map for $2,190 forthe Scirocco R (plus fitment cost for the DP).

I know they were doing the stage 1 ECU and stage 3 DSG tune for $1,495 before which is when I got my car tuned. My stage 1 with DSG was putting out 205kwaw on a hard to please mainline dyno. More than a custom tuned stage 2 Scirocco with $10k hardware mods.

Stage 1 RD Technik = green, stage 2 custom tune = red.
