Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all,

I just bought my first VW, a silver 2008 R36 wagon with 113,000 km on the clock. I've gotta say I love this car. I hope to join in the forums and read through this valuable site for tips, tricks and advice. My name is Chris and I am from the Hills district in Sydney. If you see my beast driving around, give us a beep, if you can catch me [emoji41]

    Cheers

    Chris

Sweet! Thanks mate, I was looking for a blue one but actually like the Silver one a lot, plus, seems to stay cleaner than a darker colour.

      Cheers

Welcome to the forums and R36 ownership.
I wonder if you bought this wagon from another forum member?
I know of one in the area that was going to be put up for sale a little while back but didn't hear of the outcome.

Either way there are a few going around the area I always give a little wave when I pass another driver

          Hi Kamold,

Thanks for the welcome. I am not sure if the guy I bought it from is on here, he lives in central coast.

Yeah, I've already beeped my horn to a grey wagon on the M2 about 3 days after I got it, to my workmates embarrassed laughter, who thought it hilarious that I waved to another R36 owner.

I met a guy at my local shopping centre two days before I inspected mine, who had a silver wagon the same as mine and he caught me ogling it and said "mate, just do it! Buy one!" And we chatted for a bit about them. I still recall him giving his a hug, he was so proud of it. I think this was the car I saw just before Christmas last year and made me do a double take and start the research to get my own. So now there are two silver wagons around Kellyville!

I've been reading about your mods for the MFD and leds with interest and admiring your work. Not sure if the budget will stretch in the near future on mine, but I am hanging to option in the Denison BT for my RCD 510 as the aux port is a little lame. I think mine is actually a 2008 technically as it has the red MFD. compliance is Jan 2009.

Only thing I am itching to fix is the spotty finish on the rails and chrome trim which doesn't look like it is easy to fix, so any tips that people may have would be very appreciated. It's quite oxidized on the inside of the rails and autosol doesn't have any effect.

I'll definitely give you a wave if I see you around ! [emoji41]

          Cheers

          Chris

            New R36 owner

A bit of fun tonight. Pulled up to the local shops and there was the car that started it all! Just as the owner (Jaris?? -sorry i think thats wrong) was returning to his beastie. This is the car and owner i mentioned above!!!! We chatted for about 10 minutes and had a laugh about me getting hooked and general stuff about the cars, comparing each etc. What a blast we live in adjoining postcodes! I was so chuffed i had to snap a crappy night time shot of the two Silver rockets side by side. Sorry for the potato quality, but it was cool to pull up next to another R36 like mine. I even saw a grey one driving past near my house just the other day. They're breeding! Mine is on the left [emoji2]

            Cheers,

            Chris
