  • Hi Diddly Ho Neighbourino

Hi everyone, I've loved VW since I was in year 7 at school. I remember going to the library most days and reading a book about the golf gti, I was obsessed. Anyway I currently own a Hardtop Green NB mx5 and SX Corolla with a 4age engine. Both are great cars but I'm trying to get rid of the mx5 atm. I am a third year uni student studying business and commute on the highway a fair bit and travel above average distances weekly. The 2 cars I have are not exactly what I would call luxury or torquey so I have been increasingly attracted to a manual mk5 golf diesel. I was initially attracted to a 2.0tdi because of the dohc 16v design and more oomph they offer. I am hearing mixed reviews about the reliability of these though, some say they have severe problems but others say this only affects a few. The 1.9 TDI, whilst has less power is apparently better of fuel and more reliable. There is a 2005 mk5 1.9tdi 6 speed manual near me, with 165,000kms and I was wondering if these have enough get up and go to be used daily. I have never owned a diesel and am quite turned on by the torque but I know the tall gearing would have an equalising effect. Anyway, would be keen to know your thoughts or point me in the right direction! Zac

    Welcome

What's your budget for the new car?

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
