Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Drowning already in VW World

It's like a rabbit hole, this GTI world. Once you go in, you can't come back out.

    I'm here to:
    1. Upgrade my head unit to SOMETHING with functional bluetooth
    2. Get prices and locations on stage 2/3 tuning of which people for some reason never post information on, they just say they got it
    3. spend as little time reading forums... I came to check what brakes i needed at 1pm and it's now 6pm and I'm just lost in so many tabs and so many subjects. I still have no idea what to get or what's even in my car. I don't even know when and where i should be servicing my GTI; currently at 75,000km and no major service ever done.

    I need a VW advice-friend...badly!

    Welcome to the forum
Yes you need to get the servicing up to date. Gear box oil is the big one for DSG at 60K, also timing belt at 7 years.
Cam follower should be done too.
    MK4 GTI - Sold
    MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
    MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.
