VIC 2009 Volkswagen (passat) CC 3.6v6 awd- Need buying advice

Hi all,

First post. Haven't owned a volks before. Thinking of buying a 2009 volks cc 3.6 awd as within budget. Need advise on the ACC- adaptive cruise control feature.

1) What is the minimum distance it can be set to, i.e. minimum distance i can set it relative to the car in front. e,g. 1m, 2m etc?
2) I dont do much highway driving, i do city driving in stop and go traffic- I know the newest models come with city braking and front assist (which i can't afford), but can the ACC on the old 2009 volks cc be used for stop and go traffic
3) When the volks comes to a complete stop in traffic, does it need just a touch of the gas pedal to start up again or would i need to reset the ACC from scratch?
4) What is the difference between the ACC and the city braking feature if both could do the same thing?

Any further input on the ACC feature would be greatly appreciated as I need to wrap my head round it. I am a newbie.

Basically im imagining i could use the ACC in city driving without having to use the gas pedal or brake other than at the traffic light or if the volks comes to a complete stop. Is that possible?

Lastly, how can i tell if the volks has LDW- lane departure warning?

Firstly city braking WONT pick up a stationary car

Closest setting on my ACC is about 4 car lengths.

You are imagining completly incorrectly. I would never use ACC in city traffic as its just not suitable. Sits too far back at closest setting wont pick up stopped cars and neither will city braking.

I think lane departure didnt come in till later as my 2011 Highline hasnt got it. Only has lane assist which keeps it in the lane. 2012 has blindspot warning.
Difference between theem is City braking senses the distance to something going slow and if you dont hit the brake it will and really hard as I found out.
Acc is more for on the highway and it keeps a set distance between you and traffic in front. If a car cuts in front of you it will brake back to the set distance and speed up when it becomes clear again. Havent been game enough to try coming up behind slow traffic at full song and see if it will stop me but I dont think so. ACC only works above 30kph.

City braking works under 30kph and has specific warnings about NOT using it in heavy traffic or on windy roads and say that it may give false activation at roundabouts.. Both fail on corners where the car in front is out of the radar beam. It WONT pick up pedestrians or motor bikes or a vehicle coming toward you..

In one paragraph Neither are suitable for peak hour driving. City braking does work but with limitations ACC is for the highway and is excellent out there. It is not suitable for heavy slow traffic.
