Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Golf 6 1.4TSI Owner Hello

    Hello to all.
    Im new to this forum.
I have Golf 6 2011, 1.4tsi 160hp DSG7, im looking to upgrade the DSG and the car so it become 220-230hp.
Will be posting for advice how to achieve that.
    Best Regards.

    welcome welcome.

With a 2011 model you're just past the model that's "more likely to explode", but the 118TSI twincharger isn't exactly known for it's reliability. The DSG has it's own set of issues too... bottom line it's probably the worst combo of things to want to play with.

In many respects if you want power the best upgrade is to sell that one and buy a GTI instead.

That said, I have that motor in my Cabriolet running a stage one tune and it's magic

Your options are stage 1 tune from a variety of tuning houses, I usually recommend choosing whoever your local mechanic uses since they are all pretty similar and support is probably the biggest selling point other than price.

DSG tune is also available?? (having a manual I don't know a lot about this space)
There is a few different intakes available, I have the forge one.
    GFB DV+ is an option.
The diesel geek short shifter is highly recommended on the manual (but of course not for you)
Exhaust wise there isn't much about, cat back might give you a bit of noise but no real power gains.

I'm sure there is more, head over to this thread for a read:

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
