Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Heading to Australia

Hey guys im Thomas from NZ (currently in Japan) heading to Jindabyne for the snow season. Im hoping to buy another Mk2 golf when I get into Australia depending what I can find for the price. My current car and first car in NZ is a mk2 golf with an ABF swap on k jet. Runs mk3 recaros and converted it to rear disc brakes (wide track) because it was a jap import with drum brakes.

Unsure of what the laws are around modifying cars in Australia but it seems a lot harder than New Zealand, would love to ship the ABF motor over to Aus to swap it but seems a lot harder to get certified.

ABF into a MK2 is a common swap here, quite a few MK2's are running them and there's no issues with rego.

I thought the red tartan roof lining on my Ibiza was bad, yours looks like a throw rug.

Your 2 door looks awesome though. Any plans to import to Oz?

Cheers and welcome to the forum.
