  • VIC Wife not happy

    Hey peeps,

Have proudly taken ownership of a MY10.5 R36.

White, latte interior. Fully optioned. Fully stoked!

So my wife's brief for our new car was pretty simple:
    - newer. Yep (upgraded from a 2004 Foz XT)
    - bigger. Yep (much roomier, and a massive boot to go with it)
    - comfortably fits a baby capsule without significant impact to front passenger roominess. Yep (XT is squished all the way forward to accommodate the capsule).
    - more fuel efficient. Probably not lol (Claimed 10.7 for the R36 vs 12.4 for the XT). Based on the urban driving we do, suspect the figure will be in the 14's ish.

Anyhoo, she likes the car, but cracked the poo's when she worked out how 'economical' it was - no thanks to my dumb arse mate for spilling the beans.

I know deep down she loves the car as much as I do hehe.

    Welcome to me

I think your wife will forgive you. You'll know this when you have trouble getting the keys off her

Congrats on the new wheels - post up some pics when you get a chance.

            Thanks Harry

I sure as hell felt like it. He also whined on about the high km's (128k). I'm not worried about it. Full service history, mostly highway km's from what I've gathered, and based on the condition of the car i seems this would be the case.

Thanks guys! Will get some pics up of the car when I get a chance.

First week back at work + newborn + tired/already cranky wife = minimal time to tinker with the car, and no pics yet. lol

Given the fact we've only got one car, it's pretty much hers anyway. The thing that will be interesting, is trying to see how economically she can drive it when she knows how much poke the thing has

Do you have actual figures for the XT to compare against? If those figures you listed before are claimed by each company then theoretically the R36 is more efficient... Just point at that... alot.

...but lets not forget it sounds awesome at WOT... which doesn't help with consumption....

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

It's claimed the XT averages 12.4 combined, so it is definitely under. But as you say, it definitely purrs when you give it a little shtick

                      Btw, what's WOT?

Thanks! Nope, MY10.5 apparently. It's the last of the 2010's they produced with the updated internal bits.

(Pretty sure that's just the updated interface thing, and updated climate controls bits n bobs?)

                          WOT = wide open throttle

Yeh right. Never heard that one before. Couldn't resist flooring it a couple of times when I test drove it. Was amazed at how effortlessly the thing hammered hehe

Can't wait to take it out on the weekend. Most likely to some sort of family picnic though, but hopefully find somewhere windy to get to
