  • VIC Hello all. Soon-to-be Skoda Octavia RS owner. Ballarat VIC

Hello everyone, taking a moment to introduce myself to the forum - my name is Boyd, I'm out in Ballarat Victoria (west of Melbourne for those unfamiliar with the area). Currently awaiting delivery of a Skoda Octavia RS Wagon that I ordered back in January. Apparently the car is now on board the boat and heading this way.

A little bit about myself - I've been around car clubs and forums for quite some time (I used to use the online alias of 'SehnKhan' on various car forums). My current ride is a 2010 Mazda3 MPS Luxury which will soon be making way for the Skoda.

I'm a huge Formula 1 fan from way back (late 1980's anyway) - still enjoy Formula 1 today despite the general feeling that the racing is somewhat artificial and less exciting than years gone by. I've been fortunate enough to attend 13 Grand Prix races in my time and hope to build on this (Melbourne x 7, Singapore x 3, Malaysia x 1, Japan x 1 and Abu Dhabi x 1).

Have spent considerable time travelling this great world of ours - mostly in Asia in recent years, but I'm dying to see Europe, the USA, New Zealand & so on.

Enough about me - I'm looking forward to learning some new things from you all with regards to the Skoda, and perhaps I'll come along to a cruise or 2 down the track.

    Cheers all.

Welcome Boyd! Congrats on the RS; hopefully the wait won't be too much longer for you.

How'd you find Japan for the F1? Suzuka I assume? Always wanted to head over there for the GP myself, but never found the time.

      Thanks for the welcome Adam.

You are correct, it was the Suzuka race from last year (the race where Jules Bianchi had his accident - thankfully I didn't see the accident at the time). Getting to the track can be a little tricky, there are not many hotels near to the track with most people coming in from either Osaka or Nagoya - I chose Nagoya and had around 90 minutes travel each way from the track. Once you're there though the atmosphere is fantastic, the Japanese absolutely love their Formula 1 (and of course they were going crazy for Kamui Kobayashi).

I'd thoroughly recommend it. The SingaporeGP is always fantastic too - even if the races can be a little precessional, the other entertainment at the track certainly makes up for it. That said, the 3 races in Singapore I attended were all pretty exciting.
