Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • DSG Burp in mk5 jetta

    Hello all,

So... after having my jetta for sometime now I've just done my downpipe, 200 cell cat, intake and BPS Stage 2 tune done.

    Loving it!!

Yesterday I had the middle (or 1st) resonator removed from the Jetta's stock cat back system (leaving in place the the rear muffler) in order to get the DSG Burp GTI owners are privy to.

This works great for the burp however the overall sound is somewhat puss.

Jetta owners experience a far more subdued and conservative exhaust note in the stock system, and from what I have seen in aftermarket systems as well.

How can I get this DSG burp without effecting the overall tone of the exhaust?
I'm not after a loud exhaust, just the burp on gear changes.

I am wondering what would happen if I was to fit a stock mk5 or mk6 GTI middle resonator to my system in place of my now straight pipe, would this give me what I am after?

    Any thoughts are welcomed.
