Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    SA First VW purchase

    Hi Guys. Good to find a useful forum that is Aussie based. Just purchased a Dec 09 build Jetta 2.0TDI for the wife. Have previously hired a couple of Golfs when interstate etc and quite liked them, once you get used to the automatic clutch. Already done a heap of reading on this site and seems like an excellent resource. I do have a couple of questions though as the owners manuals are rubbish at explaining things.

    Welcome to VW!

    The TDIs are generally pretty good. Check whether you have a DPF (diesel particulate filter) as these can need maintenance on higher km cars.
