Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hi

    Hi,
I am a recent convert to VW having recently purchased a 2012.5 passat wagon. 118 TSI.
It's my first european car and i have to say i am very impressed. i have only really owned Holden's (GM Product) in the past, mostly v8. I use the car for my work as a sales rep and enjoy driving it every day. I do a lot of highway driving and have noticed recently that there has become more noisy in the rear. There is a bearing type rumble that get louder with speed. I don't think i am imagining this. Has any one else had a similar experience?
It may be the tyres as they are now 40k old and not a well known brand but without changing them it is hard to access.
Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Welcome mate. Sounds like uneven tyre tread wear.....that can cause a bearing type noise..
