Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hoping to come back to the motherland!

    Hi all,

Just wanted to submit my first post and let you all know that, having made the worst mistake of purchasing a CX-5 GT 2.5L Petrol recently (moving from a MkV Golf GTI stage 1 APR that I had owned for seven years) due to a chronic back condition, I have now convinced my better half to take the Mazda off my hands and am looking at what VW/Audi SUV I can purchase that will bring me back to Germany!

I would love the Touareg but I really don't think I can afford it, nor do I really need a car that big (just need something high so I can get in and out of it more easily) so was thinking either the Tiguan R Line or Audi Q3. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts or suggestions...I stupidly didn't test drive the Tiguan during my research phase as I wasn't thrilled with the design but I now realise that you can't compromise on driving experience once you've driven a car as good as the GTI. Boy, do I feel stupid!

Anyway, I'm going to read a lot of the threads here and get acquianted with the site but, as I said, would love to hear anyone's thoughts on my dilemma. Am open to any idea!

    Welcome to the forum!

We have 2 Tiguans in family and are very happy with both. Yes, they drive and handle well.

I honestly think the CX5 is way better looking than the Tiguan, and im sure long term quality and reliability will also be superior...
