  • Buying 07 MK5 GTi Golf

    Hey all,

I'm an ex-WRX-er.. Now transferred to the dark side / grew up.
Put a deposit down on a 07 GTi Golf, should pick it up by the end of the week.

    It's white & it's stock standard. 6Spd Man.

Unfortunately it only comes with 1 key, so going to need to get a second one organised asap. Assuming buy a blank off ebay, find a guide to code it myself, then find a locksmith to cut the key? (Any recommendations in Melbourne?).

Also, thinking about putting the other vw stereo RCD510 in it straight away. Any issues? I heard battery drain somewhere, can anyone confirm if this will or won't apply to my 07?

    Cheers! (Can't wait!)

'07 will need a recode or replacement of the can bus controller. I'm doing the same this week.

The guy selling me the RCD510 does them all the time and says that the 07 is fine. I told him that my research suggests otherwise.
He stocks the "Gateway" (can bus controller? i assume?) and said I can buy it if need be, but he's confident I wont..

Sweet! - Confirming that I did not require the can bus controller.
        Straight plug+play! Easy to do.
