Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC - Mk1 LS (GTI Equipped)

    Hey guys,

I've been a long time fan of anything bearing the GTi brand (my brother is a huge swift enthusiast) and recently decided to pick up a mk1. If given the choice, I'd pick up a GTi, but they're few and far between and this LS happens to be tastily modified, though it's aesthetically in less than pleasing condition (I prefer the charm of old cars anyway).

I'm going to get my hands on a decent set of MS-01's (15x7.5 et+25) tomorrow, which will give the dub the stance that appeals to me from these little beasts. I've already ordered some JOM coilovers (not after anything fancy, just want it to be firm and reasonably low).

I also splurged on an autotech shift kit (should reduce both directions of throw by 50%).

It does have a perfect dash and good quality Wolfsburg steering wheel, which was a nice suprise

As for the work that's been done, it's got an 8v 1.8l GTi engine, deisel 4 speed gearbox, the owner mentioned something about it being bored or bigger cams.... It's fairly lumpy but not full race cam lumpy. Otherwise, just the usual, exhaust, etc.

pics for my new brethren hahaha.

Nice choice of wheels and accessories. Should transform the Golf into something a bit more fun to drive.

Welcome to the forum, make sure you start a thread in the MK1 section to show your build up.

    Cheers

    Paul
