Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Tiguan fuel cap won't release

Just thought id let everyone know what worked for me when my fuel cap wouldn't release, no matter what I did because of no release cable in the boot. Holding down the fuel cap to release pressure on the pin whilst I unlocked the car was what finally released it and it's back to working normal. No idea why this actually worked but it did.

read the manual. most things (fuel cap, bulbs, etc ) about your tiggy are in there.

      There's no emergency release.

Get the fuel flap actuator replaced. Otherwise you'll have to break the flap off when it finally gives out.

I tried to open mine the other day & it wouldn't open. It may have been that I didn't push it hard enough but today I had a look after reading this thread & decided to put a small amount of Teflon grease on the hook & hole in the flap. Tried several times & it works every time now.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
