Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Jollyjohn from Oz,

Hi Guys, I guess I'm the newest newbie on this site so just a bit about the drive and me.
Black R36 Wagon, mid 2010 delivery. Chipped within 6mths of new, +10% I'm assured (not dyno checked).
Set of H&R Springs and bars fitted only 3 months into the mission after I nearly ploughed (understeered) off a very quick right hander on first serious run. Springs 30mm lower and only slightly stiffer (wheels now fill the guards nicely). Bars: Front +10% Rear +30%. Turn-in now much sharper. Clever chipping also managed to dial out dodgy left foot breaking trap (designed by VW to protect DSG clutches I believe and now appearing in other Euros), so now a much better drive on track days. I've just turned 71 and can still hold my own in track day fields with similar gear and still lovin' it.
It's a daily commuter so must remain 'liveable'... but any suggestions for other improvements will be thankfully received.
    John
