Best is to go drive a few and see what you like. Some people just do not like the DSG and will always prefer the manual.

My stg2 made about 200kw/420nm so was a ball, go for a drive with team_v after you test drove all the stock ones to see what is possible and at quite low a cost as well.

I'd recommend a comfort pack 125TSI manual post MY11 but that's just me

The fuel efficiency might translate to real life but i doubt you would see it unless you drive like a granny everywhere.
I should have said is the difference in efficiency between the two really that much.

Ok 2010 147TSI with 6 speed sports auto has economy of 10.1l/100km and 0-100 of 8.2sec.

Compared to MY11 147TSI with 7 speed DSG has economy of 8.8l/100km and 0-100 of 7.4sec.

Same engine in both just different transmission.
