Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hey guys, I currently live in Canberra and am doing some research into my next car which will hopefully come later this year. At the moment I'm thinking of a B5 S4 Avant.

Here is what I drive at the moment, a mildly modified twin turbo Subaru Liberty B4:

Lot of people here have moved from Suby to VW/Audi.

Your Suby looks good, would love to see what you do to an Audi.

    Cheers

Yeah I'm not fully decided yet but that's what I'm leaning towards. I love the looks and the interior(recaros!) as well as the strong internals (you don't find that in a suby!) but I'm a little anxious about the reliability and the complexity of working on it. Despite owning what is arguably the most failure-prone engine to come out of the subaru factory my car has not faulted me in two years, and all the stories of electrical and and control arm/bushing issues has me a little worried, given it will be my DD.
