Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey all!

    Just like to introduce myself.

My name is Alex, and I am a HUGE fan of everything (well almost everything), VW, Audi, Skoda and Porsche.

I currently own a 2002 VW Golf mk4 1.6L as a daily driver, and my weekend / track car is a 2003 Mitsubishi Evo VIII.

I am interested in purchasing a Skoda Yeti or VW Tiguan for my wife (looking at the TDI models..), and also have long term ambitions to replace the Evo with a Porsche 911 Carrera of some description someday (hopefully by end of 2016!).

Hope to meet you all some time!

Hi Alex. There's a few people from Newcastle on here (including myself). Welcome.

If your chasing a Yeti, go see Mitchell at Newcastle Skoda and tell him Lucas sent you. He is my younger brother and is a top guy. He will look after you. They also received the new generation Octavia recently which is a great car.

I've got a modified grey Golf R manual so might see you around at some stage. What colour is your Evo 8?

Keep an eye on this thread for any meet up's etc. This thread tends to go quiet and then revive itself every now and then: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...eet-61329.html

And here are some pics from a drive we did up to Nelson Bay last year: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ise-88615.html

      Hi Lucas!

Awesome to hear there are many members around the Newcastle area!

I have actually talked to Mitchell previously! We are still looking around at whats out there, and intend on dropping in and giving him another visit!

I hope to see you around sometime. I love the golf's. I adore mine, even though it is only a lowly 1.6L mk4 with 150k kms on it. I recently convinced my dad to get a mk6 gti as his daily driver too. And he LOVES it. Just wish I had the money for a newer golf! haha.

My Evo 8 has been off the road for approx. 14-16 months now. It is getting a full ground up rebuild. New Engine (with variable intake cam conversion + high compression), New fuel system (2000cc inj + twin 400l/h pumps), new body work with aero. We haven't decided on the colour yet, but thinking some sort of gunmetal grey. Might see it cruising Newcastle around April after it is engineered!
