Good luck with the buy man, look forward to seeing pics after she's had a clean and detail.

As a noob owner of my first GTI, is there anything I should watch for or replace to keep her running as a reliable daily? Aside from the usual coolant, oil, air checks?

Also, does anybody know of a good exhaust specialist in melb?
Want to get the minor exhaust leaks and sort out the rubbing of the exhaust against the power steering rack (when going hard on the power uphill, dean from volkswerke reported he felt a minor rubbing).

Im out west in altona, but things have gone a bit crappy.
Spoke to the owner today, and said he tried to call me on sat, i was bedridden with the flu all day had the phone off, but have always been quick to call back and reply to him. He said he sold it to someone who came and put a deposit down, but apparently that guy hasnt been answering his phone so he said he will let me know what is happening soon. This makes me really angry as we agreed to me coming over on thursday and having already spent 110 on a pre purchase. Not happy atm

**** man, that is bull s**t, but i guess that's the power of the deposit.

Fingers crossed the other guy flake's and you can still get it.

Yep, hopefully he flakes. I mean we agreed on next thursday verbally and then pulls this crap. He reckons the bloke came and gave him like 200 bux and said he will be back in 3 months with the cash? Whereas I was coming to buy the effing car on thursday? Sounding a bit effing fishy if you ask me.

If not, I will just keep saving and find a clean MK4. I know i will never find a mk2 gti in this condition at 130k, ever.

i suggest, taking the cash out, rocking up and showing him the money, and tell him you'll take it off him right now, he will probably let you take it. He can give the other dude his deposit if he likes. The lure of the wad of cash money always works!

Probably not a possibility now, I may have said some things that would not favor further conversation, and have my heart set on saving for a more reliable mk4 gti daily. He totally pulled a fast one on me and I can't buy something off somebody I dont trust.
