Hi all Golf lovers, Im Brett and have recently put a deposit on the Bluemotion Golf. I have been looking at Golfs for some years now wondering when I would finally succumb to the pressure of owning one, not just for the obvious reasons but also for the choice of what car my daughter is best in during her early days as a P plate'r. I first started looking at them back in early 2000 when I bought my WRX, around the same time the R32 became popular. It wasn't until my boys started playing Ice Hockey that I started to long for a economical car that was equal or better than the Subaru in driver satisfaction. In the last 12 months selling our family car, 06 Territory, and looking for a new small car for my daughter to drive saw me steering towards the Golf. I have spent the last two months toying with the fact of buying a cheap used 4 cylinder as my daughters first car versus a new fuel efficient car for both my wife and daughter to share until she leaves school. After many calculations, including fuel, safety, used car maintenance, I decided a new car was the way to go. My conditions were to find the most economical and safest car on the road, able to fit two adults and three kids, able to do weekend trips, fit a dog in the boot, two large hockey bags, and more. I originally had my eye on a wagon but unfortunately could not get that in the new fuel efficient Bluemotion Golf. My current WRX hatch has 280,000 kms (during this time adding over 200,000kms on the second car) and I estimate the Golf will be used to do more in the next 10 years. I will be putting a tow bar on to take my bikes away a couple of time per year out bush which is 500kms each way. I live on the Central Coast and travel to Sydney regularly sometimes 7 days per week. My boys sport see us travel during the week to Newcastle and all over Sydney each week-end. So I expect this car will not get much time to even cool down. I have started reading some of the posts here which makes me feel confident in my decision to purchase the Golf. Happy motoring all, Brett.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.

Hi all, I just found out that the Bluetooth controls on the steering wheel of the Blue motion Golf I'm buying are not activated, I am told this is a dealer optional extra only on the Bluemotion Golf at a cost of $790.00 My question is how can a physical accessory be fitted but not activated? Its like fitting the radio but it has no antenna !!! The dealer tells me its only an optional extra on this model. Any information would be appreciated thanks Brett.

The accessory he is talking about is the bluetooth module itself. You do not have the bluetooth transmitter, just the controls (which is also used for the radio). So the analogy you used earlier is inaccurate. It's not radio without an antenna... it's a remote control without a stereo/radio unit.

Okay thanks, I did not get much explanation from the dealer so it makes sense that the radio can be controlled from the left controls on the steering. I am glad the controls are usable for the radio. I still think that the controls for mobile phone should not be displayed if they are an accessory as it lures you into belief you are getting bluetooth connection and something the dealer failed to disclose.
