Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Polo TSI owner who is slightly upset

    Hello all,

My wife and I picked up our brand new Polo TSI last week. It is Pepper Grey and has the lot (Sports Pack, Comfort Pack, Sunroof, Leather/Seude seats and a few extras) with a DSG gearbox. We're in love with the car, and took it for a nice drive over the weekend to work it in.

Unfortunately, this morning, while not even a week old, a young council worker slammed into the back of it stationary at a set of lights.

There is no visual damage (as the culprit was quick to point out), but judging by the amount his front bumper was crushed in, there is going to be internal damage. It even felt a little off to drive.

No matter how hard you try to keep your precious possessions perfect, some ignorant fool will always undo your work!

We signed up to VWW as there is a lot of information here and we hope to share.

At this point i assume you have all his relevant details. I would be heading to your repairer of choice (or where directed) and get them to look at it. Sadly if it's all under the body work they are going to have to pull it apart to find any damage but if his car was beat up chances are yours is too

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

      oh thats a dam shame

I hope you got all his details and have started the insurance process, a decent panel beater will tell you if there is any serious damage to it

Yes, all details were exchanged and insurance process was started very soon after. We will get it thoroughly looked at as I don't want this to cause any future pain.

The guy said we should be sending the bill to the council since it was a council vehicle. Hah! No thanks, I'll just have your license and insurance please.
