Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Proud owner of a brand new Golf 77TSI

Hey Guys. Just received delivery of a shiny new Golf 77TSI this afternoon, and so far am absolutely in love. Clocked 6.1l/100km on my first drive around the inner suburbs of Brisbane without evening trying to drive efficiently, which is less than half that of my previous car on the same route. My only regret now is that I didn't buy a higher end model - although the engine is astoundingly powerful for its size, and has no trouble running rings around my old car with a much bigger engine, so I'm still rather satisfied.

This car is also my first manual after a decade on an auto license, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how forgiving the Golf is of my bad clutch control. Sadly I can only technically drive it as a "Learner" until I get my license upgraded in a few weeks, which means I need to have my girlfriend in the car as an 'instructor' if I want to drive anywhere until then.

Excited to see there's a thriving community of enthusiasts to bounce things off; I'm sure I'm going to make great use of this forum over the coming years.

      Congrats.

Picked up our Shark Blue 77TSI DSG last July.

It's a great city runabout. Very zippy and eager engine at low revs tho it does lose a bit of steam at higher rpms. But not a real problem since it always looks like the cops are everywhere

Tho I did wish it had cruise control for highway cruising and the multi function steering wheel.

        Welcome mate.
Hopefully you can jag your man pedal licence and we can get you out to some of our events so you can see some of the other vee-dub's.

Your other half is welcome too by the way.

Hope you get some valuable info from the forums.
