Hey Guys. Just received delivery of a shiny new Golf 77TSI this afternoon, and so far am absolutely in love. Clocked 6.1l/100km on my first drive around the inner suburbs of Brisbane without evening trying to drive efficiently, which is less than half that of my previous car on the same route. My only regret now is that I didn't buy a higher end model - although the engine is astoundingly powerful for its size, and has no trouble running rings around my old car with a much bigger engine, so I'm still rather satisfied.
This car is also my first manual after a decade on an auto license, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how forgiving the Golf is of my bad clutch control. Sadly I can only technically drive it as a "Learner" until I get my license upgraded in a few weeks, which means I need to have my girlfriend in the car as an 'instructor' if I want to drive anywhere until then.
Excited to see there's a thriving community of enthusiasts to bounce things off; I'm sure I'm going to make great use of this forum over the coming years.
