Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. Hi guys,

Just saying hi, my name is Toby, I'm from Brisbane. I've had my GTI for about a week and loving it to bits. Such a brilliant car. I did my research and looked at/test drove WRX STI, Lancer EVO, Renault Megane RS, Focus XR5 turbo, Mazda MPS - none of them were in the same league as the GTI in terms of an all-round package of performance, handling, safety, comfort, technology, fuel economy, value retention and great styling. At the end of the day, the GTI is based on an excellent car to begin with, whereas the others are all based on (arguably) cheap, plasticky, basic vehicles.

I don't have any plans to modify it at all at this stage, if I do it would be limited to maybe an exhaust system, tinted windows, and some roof racks for my mountain bike.

    2011 Golf GTI DSG "Adidas"-
    - All the usual GTI features, plus:
    - Unique 18" wheels
    - Bi-xenon headlights (I think they are the "R" headlights, with the LED daytime running lights, but not sure...)
    - LED tail lights, same as "R" but not as tinted
    - Leather bolstered red and black seats with white stripes
    - Golf ball textured gear knob
    - Premium bluetooth
    - MDI

    Mods so far:
    - APR Stage 1 software
    - Carbonio APR cold air intake
    - Carbonio stage 2 intake piping
    - S2TPP DSG paddles
    - Tinted windows

Unfortunately it didn't come with a matching Adidas tracksuit which I am totally miffed about! That would have just been too cool!

Anyway, you will probably hear from me again in due course.

    Cheers!

    Toby

Thanks Lewis. I must say, initially I wasn't that keen on the Adidas interior, but my choices were limited with there being no stock of GTI's in Queensland with DSG, 5 door, bluetooth, MDI, 18" wheels and leather (my pre-requisites). The Adidas was there and the dealer wanted to sell it, so I snapped it up, and in hyndsight I'm glad I went with the Adidas, it's a bit different and stands out a little, without being obnoxious like a fluoro green Focus RS or something. The bi-xenon headlights are also a great bonus which I wasn't really planning on. Plus hopefully when it's time to sell, being a limited edition might make it a little better with resale value, even though generally the Golf's hold their value quite well anyway.

congrats tobes... special models are always fun, you get that little bit extra...
bet your happy with the tails?
as far as mods go, i would recommend just a tune to start with, huge differences over stock... besides, then you know how far you want to take it!
my first GTI was a TR MKV so i like the red, it has a special place...
hope to meet up at some stage at one of our events... we are getting monthly euro meets happening and there is a show at the end of August...
        catch up soon, enjoy!

You'll love it! Mine's better every day and I look forward to driving it.I had a HSV Clubsport before it and I can't say I'm missing it!

Both my mates are removing the adidas inserts from the seats and retrimming in leather to match.

Welcome mate, it'd be good to have you at one of the upcoming meets. I can't say I've ever seen an Adidas around anywhere, apart from on the net. Do you have any pictures to post up?

              Welcome toby.
Hope we see you soon at the euro meet or some other event.

The red really stands out and matches the pinstripe grill well for the Mk 6.

                Hi guys,

No pics yet, only crappy camera phone ones. Might go take some nice ones this weekend.

I'm a bit reluctant to do any mods to this car, it's a lease package so it will be gone in three years, and I wouldn't be surprised if I get another GTI when that time arises!!

So..... I went down to see the guys at Harding Performance this morning to get the 6hr free trial Stage 1 flashed on. OMFG what a difference it made, I am still grinning from ear to ear. Will be back this week to get it put on for reals, and maybe a Carbonio intake as well. If any of you are thinking about getting the Stage 1 tune, get the free trial, and be ready to shell out the cash to get it put on for real because it is so worth it. Turns the car from quick to animal. (but still the same to drive at "normal" levels of acceleration...)

Glad you found it such a game changer.
It was the same for me.

Hope we can see you at the VW Drivers Club gathering at Wynnum on the weekend.

It's like getting a brand new car yeah? I loved it!

I also love the neat little package that is the Adidas. I particularly like the wheels, lights and seats (everything that pretty much sets it apart from the normal GTI's) however I'm not a fan of the "Adidas" branding everywhere. Enjoy the car! And enjoy the XDL!
