Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi VW people,
    I almost bought a VR6 in 2001 but went a v8 ute for work......
Have now owned a 97 VR6 for 8 months and i have regreted the v8 decision
ever since(except the 25,000 price tag for the vw in 2001)...
I joined this page for advice as i have had small problems that standard mechanics quote ridiculous prices for and i end up getting done for half the price EG-being told i had a burnt valve $2200 only to find out it was plugs and leads $350 and thats just the start of it....Anyway i look forward to chatting and i will put photos up soon...

Welcome welcome As time goes on VWWatercooled members are accounting for an ever increasing number of the 738 VR6's sold in Australia. Soon we will have them all! Mwahahahahaha...

There is lots of "little" things that go wrong with the VR6, most of which if fixed properly will give you ten more years of problem free motoring. Let us know what you need and I'm sure our members can point you in the right direction

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
