Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    VIC looking to buy t5 multivan - advice?

    hi gang. we're have 3 carseats to deal with, plus a dog, pram, bikes, surfboards, pop up caravan.....
    We have had a reliable Soob Outback. Our mechanic seems to be rather adverse to the idea of the TDi Multivan. He reckons they are prone to leaks, and something about a really expensive fuel pump failure. Can anyone shed some light on all this? We'd love to know what "normally" goes wrong with them, and what "horribly" goes wrong!! Looking second hand in 100,000 - 150,000km range, 2005 onwards (for affordability).

    Have a look in the Multivan section for lots of info.

    Also, since you are looking at 2nd hand, look at the 3.2 V6 petrol versions as well. Lots of oomph without that particular problem
