Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hey guys, I have been into a number of VW dealerships now, and they seem like absolute twats (the sales people). Beofre you jump on me about my harsh criticsms. Hear this, I went in to 4 different places, without a trade in, trying to get a deal on the current promotion of no on roads. Not one person would let me deal on the RRP price!!! That is just friggin ridiculous.

I have to re-iterate. Everytime I have bought a brand new car, VZ ute SS, MY08 WRX, My09 WRX, 325CI BMW fully optioned, I have always been told that we could have gotten a better deal if there was no trade in and I was just paying cash.

Well I AM just paying cash. The car I want prices up to $44100. Is it that propersterous to want it for $40-41000 at the moment?

To make matters worse the sales people are trying to sell there stock, which sometimes is not even close to what I want eg No xenons, wrong colour etc. Even though I told them Im willing to take one off there lot with different specs to what I want, we stilldont get a deal.

When I spent $99300 on a BMW I did not get the level of twatness that I got from VW dealerships.

Would love to become a GTi owner but no one is playing fair, and no one wants a reasonable deal.

Some of the deals I have seen people on here get before the promotion are better than what I am being offered now!!

So where is a good place to go? in Sydney? Or should I pick it up from interstate?

I hope VW customer service for warranty etc is better than the sales people.

So am I right in saying they didn't everything as expected but refused to drop prices?
It's purely a matter of supply and demand. Since there are plenty of people willing to put down cash then wait 3 months+ for a car to be delivered they don't really have to deal. Sad but true.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Or of course, you could offer to trade in a rusty razor blade! (As happened in Melboune offers many years ago, not joking)
Seriously, it is a case of supply and demand. All the 'good drive away options' are based either on excess stock, or else on dealers trying to make bonus quotas
before end of financial year. And in most of these cases, if a tradein, not very generous.
In any case, would prefer to have a dealer treating me as a valued customer, and thus providing good service, rather than someone ready to vamoose to the next bargain spot.
      Anyway, enjoy your bargain hunt
