Hi - found this forum last night doing some research on our insurance claim and hoping you guys can help.
Our Golf (07 Sportsline TDI) was assessed as a write off at the weekend due to hail damage and we were offered market value or we could buy it back ($27,200 and $12,000) respectively.
When I went back to have a look at the policy however, it looks like if the car is written off within 3 years that we get a new replacement. Me being a skeptic, I am wondering why Allianz havent picked this up and whether they have a get out clause. The only doubt I can see is that they wont replace with a new car if the "model" has been discontinued. Reading the clause would indicate that "model" relates to Golfs in general which of course are still going strong.
The other thing is that they will only replace if there is availability in Australia. Speaking to the assessor they said they had written off countless Golfs and was wondering whether that would affect demand on new Golfs. Hopefully speaking with VW in Perth today to see what is around
Has anyone had any experience with getting a new replacement and the best approach to take with Allianz. It looks like we would probably get a Comfortline which I think is slightly lower spec, or could we realistically get a GTi?
Thanks for your help in advance!!
Cheers
Darren
