  • ECS Tuning is on the block, get ready Australia

    Hello Australian VW Enthusiasts,

I'm Chris from ECS Tuning over the Pacific in the USA. I'm tasked with figuring out a way to get Australia some performance and maintenance auto parts. You have probably seen us on Vortex and Audizine as well as a few mags. More or less we recognize that it is hard for Australia to get parts from the US. Rather, it isn't hard so much as it is costly!

So while we negotiate reasonable shipping rates with our shippers I'm open to feedback from the Aussie community. What do you guys want from us?! It sounds funny but it is true. We are looking at group buys to save the most on shipping and then hopefully we can get a handful of wholesalers on your soil so that you don't have to worry about shipping at all!

So long story short I'm looking for a Aussie forum with some good traffic to hunker down in and address the above mentioned problems. This is my first Australian post, so here's to more?!

    ===========================

I apologize if this post breaks some forum rule for Advertisers, but I actually don't have access to the rules section since this account is a newbie account, you might want to address that admins []

Welcome aboard Chris! More than happy to have you aboard, getting better access to parts from overseas is something I think all of us are interested in.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

x43 on the shipping prices, I must say you do have a very competitive and comprehensive suite of parts which would satisfy a great many users on this forum.

Enjoy your stay, and please share your automotive experiences!

hiya Chris, I asked the same question at Ozaudi, but just for the benefit of members here, I'll ask again:

a local distributor would be able to bulk buy,and get cheaper bulk shipping rates, but local retail pricing still tends to be outrageous as there isnt a big enough customer base to offset the overheads.

for example, coilovers retailing in the US for say $1300 vs in Australia for $4000+.

I'm happy to shop overseas, as long as shipping isnt too prohibitive.

the main risk is servicing of warranties.

Chris, are you able to offer lower pricing again if your products are sold to us without warranties?

                    thats a good point there.

if the price is right, i might consider the FK silverline X over the HPA KW SHS.

Awesome awesome. Looking forward to much more competitive shipping rates. I've bought my fair share of toys from overseas and it's always nice to have better deals and specific rep to talk to.
                      Cheers,

Awesome mate. I just got an email back from you guys about stuff marked as 'free' shipping on the site. Maybe you guys should let non US customers know that it is free in the US only.
Other than that, I know you guys don't get the Polo in the states, but maybe some Polo parts to be able to order??
I have bought other items off you guys before(brake and service stuff), and found your prices to be great, and very competitive. If you could get your shipping down, that would be even better!!

blitz, unfortunately the polo market is so minimal no body will do it .. lol minus the UK as they dont get them over in the states as you said!

I sourced my Brembo slotted rotors off ECS, as they are the same as the MK4 GTI. Unfortunately the calipers are different, so I had to source my brakepads from elsewhere (at a hugely increased price!!).
However, I think they are great for servicing consumables such as filters, oil, and brake fluid. I even got an ECS magnetic engine oil plug!!
I am aware that the Polo market is too small, but there is always the hope!! This will change when I get my MK2!!
