Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Another VR6 owner - yippeeeee!

Gidday guys, I know I registered yonks ago but haven't really contributed in anyway so heres a shot at it and I promise to add some valuable knowledge from my learnings to the dub scene (particularly if it has anything to mk3's!).

My names Nigel I'm in my early 30s (I still consider myself young!) and I orginally came from aircooled land (having being raised across the ditch during my younger years - (in aussie's seventh state.. NZ!) - I owned a few beetles and combis - my fav of all being a 1973 twin port Super Beetle). After leaving uni, working for a few years and having some dollars to spend - I then converted to watercooled and managed to purchase my first Golf - an imported Mk3 Golf GTi -laden with goodies such as factory recaros and sunroof.

I have stuck with the Mk3 Golf and now I own a Manual Mk3 Golf VR6, I've had her for a good 9 months now and have performed the following mods:
Custom DTM exhaust (cat back end only) - yes she now growls!
    Fully adjustable SPAX Coilovers
    Angel Eye Headlamps
    InPro Crystal Black Rear Taillamps
    LED crystal black side indicators
    Quickshifter
    K&N Pod Filter

I have tried to attach some pics, so if they don't show I have listed some URLs below as well.

Anyway there are plenty of things I still want to do to my VR6 (yes - one step at a time!) and I am sure there are many questions I will be posting (please excuse me if some of them sound really dumb!) - so I hope you will be able to assist with these and I hope that I too can contribute in some way to the dub scene.

BTW if there are any dubbers near the Sutherland Shire lemme know as it would be good to met some people down this way.

Ok, I have blabbed on enough so I will end it here!

thanks guys for the warm welcome. Ben, the sunroof was in it when i bought the car, its not factory though but dealer installed. I shipped the angel eyes over from the uk, have the name of a great supplier with super fast shipping if you are interested in paying for it. the good thing is that they are RHD - so many of aftermkt headlights arn't and you have to stuff around trying to convert them. will pm the you the details when i find them.

                Welcome!

I'm another burgundy mk3 shire owner!
I saw one parked in Miranda Fair once but I don't think it was a VR. I have been told there's one running around, friend of a friends, so it was more than likely him. There's a few other mk3s in different colours around the place too. I've seen a green one on greens, navy blue cabrio, and gunmetal and silver CLs.
